Red Sky in the Morning

"Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning."

“Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.”

When I came upstairs this morning the house was bathed in an eerie red light. It was twenty minutes or so before sunrise, but the undersides of the clouds were catching the sun’s early rays. The actual dawn was anti-climactic- as the sun came level with the clouds they lost their fiery glow and turned lead gray. The rhyme proved out- it rained most of the morning.
