Double Rainbow

As a late afternoon storm passes, the sun pops past the trailing edge of the clouds. As the light catches the retreating sheets of rain it raises a high double ‘bow.

The best rainbows are usually early in the morning or an hour or less before sunset. The arc extends high in the sky, and often the background clouds are dark, setting off the colors. This afternoon, the sun came out of the clouds with great intensity while there were still strong sheets of rain, so a classic double ‘bow was thrown: a colorful primary bow outlines a bright arc, then Alexander’s dark band leading to a secondary rainbow of colors in reverse order.

Welcome to my blog

This blog is intended to share about life at Los Gatos Bed and Breakfast. We are located in a very special corner of the world, the Finger Lakes of New York. We live in a fascinating and beautiful area, and we get involved in interesting things. As proprietors of a B&B, we spend a lot of time with home decor, repair, remodeling, landscaping, and gardening. We are also interested in cooking (especially breakfast), stained glass, astronomy & astrophotography. Along the way, I envision some reviews of area restaurants, wineries and various other attractions.
And then there are the Eponymous Cats. As the namesakes for Los Gatos Bed & Breakfast, Los Gatos being Spanish for “The Cats”, they keep an eye on the operation- supervise staff, greet guests, and chase off intruding barn cats and squirrels. They would like to think that this is also all about them, shallow creatures that they are.

This will be a work in progress, as blogs tend to be. During this first shake-down period, you may find that the format changes a bit as I learn the nuances of yet another program/scripting language.
